The Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation – LSEF has significantly advanced Nigeria’s secondary education sector by donating a multi-million-naira state-of-the-art AI-Tech Centre to Holy Ghost College in Owerri, Imo State.

Handed over during the institution’s 77th anniversary celebration, the facility was personally supervised from conception to finish by the Chairman of Zinox Group and prominent alumnus, Leo Stan Ekeh. This landmark intervention instantly positions the college as an emerging, technology-driven institution capable of global academic competition.

Designed as a world-class smart learning environment, the centre is equipped with highly integrated all-in-one Zinox computers, eco-friendly integrated workstations, and modern furniture. To ensure uninterrupted operations, the facility features a 24-hour iPower solar-powered electricity system and high-speed Starlink corporate internet connectivity with a fully funded five-year subscription. Additionally, two large AI-enabled interactive screens have been installed to facilitate real-time online tutorials and advanced digital learning sessions.

According to Mr. Ekeh, the project was inspired by a deep desire to equip students with the necessary 21st-century digital skills to build a strong technology culture among young Nigerians. Plans are already underway to partner with globally recognized consultants to deliver certified AI training, transforming the facility into an official training hub for premier tech brands such as Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, and Starlink. To sustain these world-class operational standards, the foundation is actively recruiting a Director and support staff who will receive competitive remuneration and specialized training.

Beyond purely technical education, the centre will host structured mentorship programmes focusing on leadership, ethics, transparent communication, and finishing school culture. Ekeh also announced future plans to refurbish one of the school’s hostels into a fully intelligent, AI-enabled residential facility to incentivize academic excellence.

Furthermore, he encouraged eligible students to apply for the foundation’s ongoing 1,000 Tech University Scholarships initiative for indigent students, which is being executed in partnership with Zinox Technologies, TD Africa, Task Systems, and Konga Group.

This project is part of a broader, long-standing philanthropic roadmap; since 1996, Ekeh’s foundation and companies have quietly deployed similar digital interventions in over 123 institutions across Nigeria, with seven more secondary schools slated to benefit from mini-ICT infrastructure within the next year.

In response to the gesture, the Principal of Holy Ghost College, Rev. Dr. Samuel Agu, and the Imo State Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Prof. Bernard-Thompson Ikegwuoha, praised Ekeh. They commended him for delivering a transformative investment capable of reshaping the state’s educational ecosystem and breeding Nigeria’s next generation of tech-driven leaders.
