Her acclaimed productions, including Saro the Musical and House of Ga’a, have successfully proved that local African narratives can sustain massive domestic audiences and cross borders seamlessly without shedding their native identity or emotional force.

The ASP Gold Standard Award was dedicated to legendary Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon, whose journey from running barefoot to school in Nakuru County culminated in an era-defining sporting career. With multiple Olympic gold medals and world records spanning the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, and the mile, Kipyegon has become a towering symbol of global athletic dominance. Accepted on her behalf by coach Patrick Sang, the award honored the quiet architecture of her excellence—demonstrating that true African influence is built on rigorous practice, endurance, and a level of consistency that forces the world to pay attention.

A poignant posthumous tribute was paid to the late Koyo Kouoh, who was recognized with the ASP Creative Legacy Award for her monumental contributions to contemporary African art. Born in Cameroon and raised in Switzerland, Kouoh spent her life building independent spaces for African artists to think and create, notably founding the RAW Material Company in Dakar and later transforming the Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town.

Her enduring impact was underscored by her historic 2024 appointment as the first African woman to direct the Venice Biennale’s International Art Exhibition before her passing in 2025, leaving behind a legacy anchored in institutional independence.

The award presentations themselves reflected a powerful synergy across African diplomacy, business, and creative sectors, featuring presenters such as UN Under-Secretary-General Zainab Hawa Bangura and National Bank Managing Director George Odhiambo.
